I have decided to put together a series of self defence instructional DVDs & videotapes. The first in the world containing the complete syllabus on American kenpo karate. In the most up to date new modern day Kenpo Karate & Self-Defence. Before the complete syllabus is lost. There are only a few Masters left in the world who have completed the full syllabus. I hope my series of instructional DVDs & videotapes will help instructors and students who wish to learn and become proficient in new modern day American Kenpo Karate and also to improve their skills in the Martial Arts. "Master George A. Maughan. 10th degree Black Belt in the Kenpo System, he looks like he could be Chuck Norris' brother". Kenpo practitioners will, however find plenty to admire. As will all martial artisits. The techniques are sound and broken down very precisely with constant oral explanation. The yellow belt tape, for example, illustrates basic stances. 10 different techniques, short form 1, freestyle techniques, and star blocking set 1. Seeing the form preformed was excellent, then its application demonstrated with a partner was even more fulfilling. Each movement given practical relevance. The same formula is used, to good effect, with the star blocking set, putting the movements into perspective. The full technique is a blur when proformed by Master George A. Maughan, testament to his speed and power. Due to the huge success of his video's he is now teaching on Martial Arts Today on American TV and in demand for seminars all over the world."

New Modern Day Kenpo Karate and Self Defence; The Complete 1st Brown Belt Syllabus by Grandmaster George Alexander Maughan George Alexander Maughan has been featured regularly in the pages of 'Combat ' and his series of well-known videos now arrive on DVD. The biggest advantage of the format is the instant accessibility, an essential function with a complex grading syllabus, as presented here. Long-term readers well be aware of the fact that Maughan's system is found on the 'clock' method, and the footwork that underpins the Universal Golden Eagle Kenpo system is the first chapter of this DVD. Maughan himself is the amiable host, talking and demonstrating. The brown belt syllabus is an excellent technique library that will be of interest to any martial artist who wants to increase his skill across the various fighting ranges. Here the most important chapters concern the 24 techniques at the heart of the 1st brown belt grading and the freestyle applications that close the programme. The delivery follows a tried and tested formula of explanation followed by demonstration, followed by repetition broken down into component parts. These two sections alone well give the viewer plenty of food for thought, but also included are 2 forms a 'long form' and a Sai form, both shown in their entirety first and then deconstructed in great detail, accompanied by a flowing commentary from Master Maughan. For students of New Modern Day Kenpo Karate this DVD is obviously an essential purchase, but the disc well also have a wider appeal, one that encompasses the street self defence arena and the array of techniques and formidable running time (90mins) well provide real value for money. |
